MISSION

AFRNYC is a volunteer organization focused on strengthening mitigation and response capabilities of the New York City art community to emergency or disaster situations by providing training opportunities and educational programming, fostering local planning efforts and improved dialogue and partnerships, and connecting emergency responders with representatives of the cultural heritage community.  

 

AFRNYC’s will fulfill its mission through the following activities: 

 

  1. Provide, promote, and facilitate information, training, exercises, and educational opportunities related to disaster mitigation, prevention, preparedness, response, recovery and continuity of operations for cultural and historical resources;
  2. Participate in information exchanges, training, exercises, and educational opportunities related to cultural heritage emergency preparedness and response; 
  3. Liaise between emergency responders and cultural and historic organizations 
  4. Provide assistance to cultural and historic organizations that experience an emergency or disaster 
  5. Partner with other organizations and communities with complementary missions and goals
  6. Provide input and feedback to the New York City Office of Emergency Management (NYC OEM) as requested.  
  7. Conduct any and all lawful activities that may be useful in accomplishing the forgoing purposes
