Alliance for Response NYC was established in 2004 in collaboration with Heritage Preservation, a national non-profit organization dedicated to the preservation of cultural heritage. We are a local volunteer organization focused on connecting emergency responders with representatives of the cultural heritage community. AFR NYC comprises a cross-section of private individuals, non-profit organizations, businesses, public agencies, and other institutions interested in the preservation our city's cultural holdings. Our goal is to continue to strengthen mitigation and response capabilities of the NYC art community through training opportunities, fostering of local planning efforts, and improved dialogue and partnerships.
After nearly a decade of service to the community and key experience gained during Hurricane Sandy, in Spring 2015 AFR NYC will bring to fruition a multi-year effort to form and train a local Heritage Response Team. The Heritage Response Team will assist our membership and cultural community at large when disaster strikes.
